MAISON DU PEUPLE / メゾン・ドゥ・ププル（民衆の家）

La Maison du Peuple is a remarkable work designed by Jean Prouvé and Marcel Lods, a true icon of 20th century architecture. As such, this project had to answer a double problem:1. Keep the original architectural essence of the Jean Prouvé building. 2. Make the project profitable from the point of view of its exploitation. This is why we imagined to renovate it while preserving the principle of this building and to create a new adjacent building with minimum impact on la Maison du Peuple. To make the project profitable, we imagined the construction of an R+13 building along the length of the southwest facade. The double height treatment of the ground floor combined with large sliding doors allows the generous opening to be kept from the public space.

パリ郊外クリンシーに建つメゾン・ドゥ・ププル（民衆の家）の改装プロジェクト。Jean ProuvéとMarcel Lodsにより設計された20世紀を象徴する建物のひとつだ。改装には、Jean Prouvéのフィロソフィーを継承すること、プロジェクトを収益化させること、の2点が求められた。そのため、この建築遺産が持つアイデンティティーを維持しつつ復元し、建物への影響を最小限に留めた新しい建物を隣接させることを考案した。また収益性を高めるため、隣接させる建物は南西のファサードに沿わせ、14階建ての1階部分に通常の2倍の高さにし大きなスライディングドアを組み込み、公共スペース向かって広い開口部を設けた。
