L’aquila Temporary Concert Hall opened on May 7th. The opening ceremony was held with the orchestra conducted by Tomomi Nishimoto. In July 2009, the G8 Summit was held in the city of L’Aquila, Italy, since the L’Aquila earthquake occurred on April 6th the same year . Here the Japanese government announced to build a temporary concert hall which proposed by Shigeru Ban to support reconstruction of the city, famous for its music scene. The aim was to construct a paper concert hall which is easy to assemble and durable, for an early resumption of musical activities in the city.

2011年５月７日、イタリア中部のラクイアの仮設音楽ホールが完成。西本智美さん指揮のもと、ラクイラ音楽院のオーケストラ演奏でオープニングセレモニーが行われた。2009年4月6日に発生したイタリア中部ラクイラ地震を受け、主要国首脳会議G8サミットが同年7月当地で開催された。そこで日本政府は、音楽の街として知られるラクイラを復興支援するにあたり、坂の提案による仮設のコンサートホール建設を表明。組み立てが簡易で耐久性に優れた紙のコンサートホールを建設することにより、被災民の心の支えとなる音楽活動の再開に弾みをつける計画である。
