Designed for Camper’s as one of the yacht sponsors for Volvo Ocean Race, a global event that races to 10 ports along a 40,000 mile race course. The race started at Alacante, Spain, then went to Miami, USA and ended in Galway, Ireland. The Pavilion was designed to be shipped around the world to various ports of call for erection. The purpose for the Pavilion was to provide a place for visitors to come at each port of call to relax, learn about World Yacht Racing and purchase Camper products. The pavilion was made of paper tubes, from the structure to the wall display and the seating. A colonnade of 48 paper tubes were designed to nestle inside themselves for the expedience during transportation. The roof was made from fabric and the floor from plywood. The pavilion was erected in 4 days and dismantled in 3 days.
風通しの良いオープンなパビリオンは、紙管の柱を特徴とした円形構造である。紙管の柱は中が空洞になっていることで、互いに内側に入れ子状にすることで、輸送時の容積と負荷を減らした。
